# Search message history

> Find inbound and outbound messages by date, number, status, body, user, or message ID.

Find earlier SMS or MMS messages before following up. Results include the message body, delivery status, and attachments.

## Find a message

**Where:** [Text Messages > Search](https://app.agencymesh.app/sms/smsSearch).

**Type** means **Web** or **AMS To-Do**, not SMS versus MMS.

1. Set **Start** and **End**. Enter the customer’s number in **To #** for outgoing messages, or **Advanced > From #** for incoming replies.
2. Narrow **Status** or **Type** if needed, then click **Search**.

## Use Advanced filters

Turn on **Advanced** to search **From #**, text in **Body**, an exact **UUID**, or **User**. Click **Search** to apply them; **Reset** clears the filters.

## Read and copy a result

For separate **Error Code** and **Error Message** fields on a recent message, use **Messaging > Recently Sent Messages > View**.

1. Read **Status** and **Body** in the row. Click an image or **PDF** in **Attachments** to open it.
2. Use the clipboard button in **Copy** to copy the row, or **‹ Prev** / **Next ›** for more results.

## Adjust an unsuccessful search

Check **To #** versus **From #**, widen the dates, and remove uncertain **Advanced** filters. If needed, use **Reset** and search by number alone.

Before resending, check matching records: **queued** or **sending** may still be in progress; **sent** alone does not confirm delivery.
