# Change light or dark mode

> Choose Light, Dark, or System and understand where your appearance choice is saved.

On [Dashboard](https://app.agencymesh.app/) or another signed-in page, open **User menu** (person icon) > **Appearance**. Select **Light**, **Dark**, or **System**; the page changes immediately without clearing your form or search.

## Choose a mode

For a quick switch, select the top-bar sun (**Light mode — switch to dark**) or moon-and-stars (**Dark mode — switch to light**) button. The icon shows the current mode; selecting it saves the opposite mode.

| Item | Guidance |
| --- | --- |
| **Light** | Use light backgrounds. This is the initial account default. |
| **Dark** | Use dark backgrounds. |
| **System** | Follow your device’s light/dark setting, including changes while the page is open. The top-bar sun/moon button is hidden in this mode. |

## Where is the choice saved?

Tabs using the same account and browser update together. Login, Sign up, and the account-ready page follow the device’s appearance; signing in restores the saved account choice. Customer signing and other public participant pages remain Light.

| Item | Guidance |
| --- | --- |
| **Agent account** | Follows your account across devices. |
| **Office account** | Saved for that account in the current browser. People using that Office account in the same browser share the choice; choose separately in another browser. |

## If the choice does not save

**Could not save appearance. Please try again.** returns the page to the previous saved mode. Select your choice again. For **Sign in again to save your appearance.**, sign in again, then choose the mode.
